Business Analyst/Project Manager within the Global IFRS IT Management team assigned to the IFRS Conversion Program
BUSINESS ANALYSIS
• responsible for analysis of key subject areas eliciting, analyzing, documenting and validating business requirements, engineering process flows, identifying system and process solution components, producing functional specifications for solution components or integrated solutions
• Scope spans multiple accounting topics and/or Finance business processes (for example Financial Accounting (Ledgers & Consolidations, Financial Disclosures), Product Control (including P&L reporting), Treasury, Regulatory, Front to Back Product Flows, Netting, MI
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
• Lead & drive delivery of IT deliverables to the business managing time, scope, cost and quality.
• participate in project and program problem and issue resolution and risk and dependency management
• Ensure full compliance with IT Governance controls
Main tasks and responsibilities will include:
Business Analysis
• Working globally (London, New York, Asia Pacific, Raleigh, Zurich, Pune) to analyze key subject areas as assigned by the IT Program Manager including but not limited to requirements identification, business & functional requirements development & documentation, business process design, business case preparation, use case development
• Research work requests, identify solution options (including data analysis & conversion approaches) and present evaluation of these, working to obtain buy-in across the IT and business community
• Run functional review meetings and facilitate open information flows among project stakeholders
• Act as a liaison between the technical and the business teams to streamline conversion of functional requirements to technical specifications and eventually aid development
• Study business and technology flows front to back to ensure integrity of requirements and proposed solutions.
• Facilitate open information flows among stakeholders and resolve issues where required (tracking, ownership, resolution)
• Perform impact analysis of change requests (technology, time, cost)
• Define test cases, validate individual functions and the overall solution delivery, may be directly involved in the test process
• Transition Key project deliveries to other team members for ongoing development, or Business As Usual team for ongoing support/execution
• Ensure adherence to business analysis standards and support development of these including adoption of standard tools, templates etc
• Understand the technology landscape in situ today as well as the evolution of this throughout the program and drive opportunities for strategic leverage
Project Management
• Provide end to end Project Management for key analysis areas, managing project performance & remediation (as required)
• Define, collect, monitor & analyze project metrics (cost, time, quality, risk, testing, communication). Manage project performance & remediation
• Establish & maintain project governance, generate project status reports, run project meetings
• Manage Global Project Resources including working effectively with offshore development teams. Manage change requests & integrate impacts. Manage Stakeholders
• Assist Program Manager and/or IT PMO and/or IT Project Leads in preparation of stakeholder communications, status reporting, issue resolution
• Participate in project planning sessions and manage deliverables across various groups within a specific time frame and or to undertake special assignments to facilitate issue resolution / quality assurance / analysis. Participate in adoption & conversion analysis & planning
• Ensure adherence to project management & business analysis standards and contribute to the development & improvement of these (leveraging best practice) including adoption of standardized tools & templates
• Due to the global nature of the IT team and business customers, possible international travel
• May be required to work outside core business hours to attend conference calls with other locations (including Asia Pacific & Americas)
Essential
• Proven track record in working on and delivering critical IT programs, in matrixed cross functional and multi-skilled teams
• Excellent understanding of standard systems lifecycle deliveries and business analysis processes
• 8 years Business Analysis Experience
• 2 – 5 years Project Management Experience
• Undergraduate IT or Commerce degree or equivalent
• Customer focused leadership style
• Prior experience of the CFO function and associated systems with detailed understanding of multiple asset classes (Cash products, Derivatives, FX, Loans etc) and front to back trade flows and reporting requirements
• Adept at working independently (self starter) as well as managing others. Accurate and detailed oriented, but able to see the “bigger” picture
• Good team player and able to operate and influence effectively at all levels within the IT and stakeholder organization, globally, front to back. Flexibility and openness to change
• Excellent organisation skills (including meeting facilitation), preferably demonstrated in a large Project or Programme context. Ability to demonstrate technical, financial & resource management ability
• Structured (and pragmatic), punctual, methodical analytical approach with an ability to create clarity out of ambiguity and present problem statements and associated analysis in a way that is easily understood
• Proven ability to identify issues, recognize root causes and take appropriate action or recommend possible scenarios to solve problems
• Able to manage multiple (and at times conflicting) priorities in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills – both oral and written. Advanced Excel and Powerpoint skills with ability to present analytical information for management decisions
• Personal and career motivation to engage fully in the programme, to further develop the programme & influencing skills to get things done
• Prior experience delivering systems and driving convergence in a multi-local and Group GAAP reporting environment (eg. US GAAP, IFRS, Swiss GAAP and local GAAP requirements)
Desirable
• Qualified Accountant and/or with practical Business or IT experience in Product Control, Financial Accounting or Regulatory functions
• Experience of P&L Front Office & Back Office reporting processes and data sourcing across multiple product classes and technical solutions available to these
• Experience with Peoplesoft General Ledger or similar and/or Accounting Subledgers/rules engines/finance data warehousing/gateways and/or Financial Regulatory Reporting &
Disclosures
• Knowledge of and experience with requirements management tools used throughout a project life cycle
• Knowledge and practical experience of portfolio management systems
• Formal business analysis and project management qualifications and experience (CMMi, PMP, Prince 2, Six Sigma etc)
• Experience with development methodologies including Agile
• Prior experience developing BA/PM best practice and coaching of these
